A roulette wheel is 37 pockets on a European wheel, numbered 0 to 36, and the order they sit in is fixed. Knowing that order, and how many zeros the wheel carries, tells you what every bet really costs. This page walks the wheel pocket by pocket, then shows the arithmetic. Roulette tables sit in the JILIPARK live casino tables, and the wheel you meet there is one of the two layouts below.
The roulette wheel in order: 37 pockets
Read clockwise from the single 0, a European wheel runs in the sequence below. From 32 onward the pockets alternate red and black all the way round, and the 0 is green.
| Pockets | Numbers in wheel order |
|---|---|
| 1 to 6 | 0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21 |
| 7 to 12 | 2, 25, 17, 34, 6, 27 |
| 13 to 18 | 13, 36, 11, 30, 8, 23 |
| 19 to 24 | 10, 5, 24, 16, 33, 1 |
| 25 to 30 | 20, 14, 31, 9, 22, 18 |
| 31 to 36 | 29, 7, 28, 12, 35, 3 |
| 37 | 26 |
The wheel does not follow the table’s 1 to 36 grid. Low and high numbers, odd and even numbers and the two colours are spread around the wheel so no side of it is heavier than another.
Roulette numbers and the colours behind them
The roulette numbers 1 to 36 split into 18 red and 18 black, and the single 0 is green. On the table layout the numbers run in three columns of 12, which is where the column and dozen bets come from.
- Red numbers: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 30, 32, 34, 36.
- Black numbers: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 29, 31, 33, 35.
- Green: 0 on a European wheel, 0 and 00 on an American wheel.
Even-money bets (red or black, odd or even, 1 to 18 or 19 to 36) cover 18 of the 36 numbers. A zero on its own is never a red, black, odd, even, low or high result, which is where the house takes its share.
Single zero roulette: 37 pockets
Single zero roulette is the European layout. A straight-up bet on one number wins on 1 pocket out of 37 and pays 35 to 1 in standard rules, while a fair price for that chance would be 36 to 1.
Worked example with 37 units staked straight up on one number, one unit on each spin: you win once in 37 spins on average and collect 35 units plus your stake back, so you end 35 units up against 36 lost on the other spins. The expected result per unit is (35 − 36) ÷ 37 = −0.027, a cost of 2.70% on every bet.
Every standard bet on a single zero wheel carries that same 2.70%, whether it is a single number, a split or red. Open the table’s info screen to read which bets and payouts that table offers.
Double zero roulette and American roulette: 38 pockets
American roulette adds a second green pocket, the 00, so the wheel holds 38. Double zero roulette keeps the same 35 to 1 straight-up payout but spreads the chance over 38 pockets instead of 37.
| Single zero (European) | Double zero (American) | |
|---|---|---|
| Pockets | 37 | 38 |
| Chance of one number | 1 in 37 (2.70%) | 1 in 38 (2.63%) |
| Even-money chance | 18 in 37 (48.65%) | 18 in 38 (47.37%) |
| Expected cost per unit staked | 2.70% | 5.26% |
The straight-up arithmetic on an American wheel is (35 − 37) ÷ 38 = −0.0526, a 5.26% cost. The extra pocket alone makes the expected cost on a double zero wheel nearly double.
What the zero count does to your pesos
Take a session of ₱10 bets on red, 100 spins, so ₱1,000 of turnover. This is an example, not a prediction: single results swing far from the average either way.
| Wheel | Expected cost on ₱1,000 turnover | Rounded |
|---|---|---|
| Single zero | 1,000 × 1 ÷ 37 | about ₱27 |
| Double zero | 1,000 × 2 ÷ 38 | about ₱53 |
The cost is the house edge, and the house edge meaning set out in the glossary applies to roulette exactly as it does to a slot’s RTP. No betting pattern changes it, because each spin is independent of the last. Pick the single zero wheel when the lobby lists both, and read the wheel’s pockets on screen before you stake.
You cannot tell which wheel a table uses
Count the green pockets in the live picture, or open the table’s info screen. One green pocket is single zero and two is double zero. Do this before the first bet, not after.

FAQ
How many numbers are on a roulette wheel?
A European wheel has 37 pockets (0 and 1 to 36). An American wheel has 38 because it adds a 00. The number of pockets is shown on the wheel itself and on the table's info screen.
Why are the numbers not in order on a roulette wheel?
The layout spreads high and low, odd and even, and red and black numbers around the wheel, so neighbouring pockets alternate colour. The order has nothing to do with which number is due.
Is single zero or double zero roulette better for me?
Single zero. On the same straight-up bet the single zero wheel costs 2.70% in expectation and the double zero wheel costs 5.26%, so the same peso turnover loses about half as much.
Ano ang pinagkaiba ng American at European roulette?
Ang American roulette ay may dagdag na 00, kaya 38 ang pockets at mas mataas ang house edge. Sa European, 37 lang ang pockets at iisa ang zero.
