The baccarat table betting areas

Player and Banker are only names for the two hands, so betting Banker does not mean betting on the house. Payouts and any commission are set per table, so read them on the info screen.
Baccarat card values
The baccarat card values are the same at every table.
- Ace counts 1.
- Cards 2 to 9 count face value.
- Ten, jack, queen and king count 0.
- A hand’s total is the last digit of the sum, so 7 and 8 make 5, not 15.
Worked example: a 9 and a king make 9, the best total, which is a natural. Compare with the blackjack card values, where tens count 10 and totals keep climbing.
The baccarat scoreboard and its roads
The baccarat scoreboard shows the history of the shoe in grids called roads.

Every baccarat bet carries a built-in cost, the house edge meaning in plain terms. The Tie bet pays more, but it wins so rarely that its cost is the highest on the table.
